Resources For Individuals Seeking Adjudication
We desire to create a fair, just, and biblical process that is clear and helpful for all plaintiffs, defendants, and adjudicators. Adjudication is a serious matter that can have serious consequences in the church and even in the civil courts. Further, these matters can impact our unity in the church, our Christian testimony, and our integrity before God. For all these reasons the greatest care should be taken in these matters.
Every SGC church is committed to complying with our Book of Church Order and our Rules for Parties in Adjudications. These documents are intended to help us engage in a distinctly Christian adjudication as we help people resolve disputes in an orderly and biblically faithful manner.
Members of SGC Churches
We provide assistance to members of SGC churches that are pursuing peace, accountability, and due process. Most matters will be resolved at the local church level. However, there are certain situations that fall within the jurisdiction of a regional Judicial Review Committee or our national Court of Appeals. We encourage you to review the corresponding sections of our Book of Church Order before contacting us.
Appealing an Excommunication - Book of Church Order Section 16.2
A disciplined member may appeal the elders’ decision and the church’s action to their regional Judicial Review Committee. An appeal must be made within 30 days of being notified by the elders of their excommunication and right to appeal. Read more.
Charges Against an Elder - Book of Church Order Section 17
As members of the church are held accountable to being faithful representatives of Christ (BCO-23.1), so too Elders are to be held accountable. To that end all Sovereign Grace churches agree to a shared grievance policy for bringing charges against an elder. Read more.
If you have reviewed the appropriate sections of our Book of Church Order and believe you are in need of further assistance, please complete this form. A denominational representative will respond as soon as possible.
